This mold is ingeniously designed to be both a catrina hat AND a classic Mexican sombrero!
Flip the brim one way and use the tall crown and you've made a campesino sombrero - flip it over and use the flat pill box crown and it's a formal catrina hat. Looks fabulous if you add a couple feathers to catrina's hat!

Virgin of Guadalupe sugar mold
Last year, when I was in Michoacan for Day of the Dead,
I ran across a sugar skull vendor selling from a rickety wooden table
under the arches of the town square. He had just brought in a new batch
of his famous sugar Guadalupes, and women were clamoring to buy them
for their ofrendas! It would make a very special offering for their
departed loved ones. They were iced with green frosting for the Virgin's
cape, golden yellow flames of the resplandor, and little gold "teacher
stars" stuck into the icing of the cape. They were true works of
folk art! We have tried to make a similar Guadalupe mold this year for
your enjoyment... for those of you who can't go to Patzcuaro to get
the real thing. It is made with the same sugar skull, meringue mixture
as the sugar skulls. Dry the back and front and put together with Royal
Icing before decorating. The Virgin stands 8" high. |

NEW DoD Cello Treat Bags
Eureka! I finally found them. I've hunted for DoD images for years in party shops, dollar stores, big box seasonal aisles, cake decorating shops...
We DoD folks need these to package up our decorated sugar skulls and chocolates made from our molds. We need them to hold our hand made gifts. These bags aren't cheap, but they are truly Day of the Dead images - sugar skulls, catrina and a crazy skeleton dancing in the cemetery. The good thing is that the bags are big - 6" x 11", no gusset. Paste colors
1oz bottle - Add to your icing. These intensely saturated paste food colors are what make the icing on the sugar skulls look truly Mexican! The paste colors are edible and can be added to any food, cupcakes or icing year 'round. Long shelf life. Grocery store food colors cannot be used to tint Royal Icing. Our paste colors will not fade and will give you the deep, saturated colors for dramatic sugar skull projects.

Dime-sized Mini Roses
Handmade by 5 old ladies in Mexico City.... and furthermore, Angela's mother got drafted to assort the colors once they hit state side! She's done thousands! These adorable roses are bright & beautiful and can be used for wrapping napkins, wedding decorations, cards, cello bags, sugar skulls or decorating something special.
