NEW Papel picado banderitas
Hand-cut paper papel picado flags. Banners are 6" high x 9" wide and are mounted on an 18" long dowel. Banderitas make unique & inexpensive favors for parties or weddings. These "paper lace" flags look festive as centerpieces or can be used in floral arrangements. In fact, when banderitas and flowers are used together in centerpieces, less expensive floral arrangements can be used. Everyone at the table can take a banderita home with them! In the Huasteca regions of Mexico, banderitas have been used since the 19th century in head dresses and carried in large gourd bowls during traditional ceremonial processions in the villages. "Tissue paper" in Spanish is called "papel de China", or paper from China, as that's where it was originally imported from.

General info
Everyone who has had custom papel picado banners made for their wedding, special occasion or restaurant/store, has been absolutely delighted with the results. Our artist lives in a very tiny village in Mexico but is internationally recognized as a master paper cut artist. He is the keeper of a dying tradition and is the best of the best! He cannot cut less than the minimum order because he uses handcrafted chisels and cutting any less ruins the paper or plastic (plastic slightly higher).
The minimum order for custom papel picado banners is:
18 banner string units (consisting of 10 14"x19 panels") @ $18.00 per string = $324.00
Each banner string stretches to about 20 feet.
You can choose your tissue paper colors (up to 3). Most colors are available in Mexico, however, the colors may be approximations of what you view on your computer screen at home. They are also available in opaque plastic - not as pretty as tissue, but practical for outdoor weddings in humid or unpredictable climates. (Plastic is a bit more costly than paper).
You may choose to have your custom panel with your names and the date of the wedding interspersed with one or two panels from either our traditional banner or wedding banner selection such as birds with flowers, hearts and birds or a wedding cake, etc., (or from the Day of the Dead themed banners)
- If your names are not too long, you may choose "script writing" instead of the usual "block letters"
- Shipping from Mexico to our location in N. California = $110.00
- Shipping from us to you = approx. $15 to your location
The lead time is 8 to 12 weeks. The time can sometimes be reduced to about 6 weeks if need be.
We would need a 50% non-refundable deposit to begin the work with the balance due upon completion.
To get started right away, please email us the following information:
- The bride and groom's names and the date of your wedding, your banner choices (by number) & color choices
- For the deposit: your name, your shipping and billing addresses, if different, your phone number, your credit card number &
the expiration date
